Scolo AI (“we”, “us”, or “our”) is a simple tool that helps Nigerian businesses check if a customer has a history of paying back before selling on credit. We operate via WhatsApp. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store, and protect your information when you use our service. Scolo AI is not a credit bureau, financial institution, or lender.
2. Information We Collect
We collect the following categories of information:
- Personal information — full name, phone number, and WhatsApp contact details.
- Business information — business name, type, and location provided during onboarding.
- Bank account data — bank account details and transaction history accessed through bank-linking with your explicit consent.
- Search results — trust scores and recommendations generated when a search is conducted on or by you through our platform.
- Usage data — interactions with our WhatsApp-based service, including messages and commands.
3. How We Use Your Information
Your information is used to:
- Verify your identity and onboard you to the Scolo AI platform.
- Review bank transaction history to generate trust scores and payment-behaviour insights.
- Deliver search results and recommendations to businesses that request them (with your consent).
- Improve our analysis tools and service quality.
- Communicate with you about your account, searches, and service updates via WhatsApp.
4. Third-Party Services
We share your data with the following third-party service providers to operate Scolo AI:
- Mono — we use Mono to securely link your bank account and retrieve transaction history with your authorisation. See Mono’s Privacy Policy.
- OpenAI — we use OpenAI to assist in analysing transaction patterns and generating payment-behaviour insights. Transaction data shared with OpenAI is processed in accordance with their data usage policies and is not used to train their models.
- Meta (WhatsApp) — our service operates through the WhatsApp Business API. Messages are subject to WhatsApp’s Privacy Policy.
We do not sell your data to any third party.
5. Data Retention
We retain your data for as long as your account is active and as necessary to provide our services. Bank transaction data is retained for up to 12 months from the date of collection to support ongoing searches. You may request deletion of your data at any time (see “Your Rights” below).
6. Data Security
We implement appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect your data, including encryption in transit and at rest, access controls, and secure data storage. While no system is completely secure, we take reasonable steps to safeguard your information against unauthorised access, alteration, or destruction.

- Correction — request correction of inaccurate or incomplete data.
- Deletion — request deletion of your personal data, subject to legal and regulatory obligations.
