1. Introduction

These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your use of the Scolo AI platform and services (“Service”) operated by Scolo AI (“we”, “us”, or “our”). By using Scolo AI, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use our Service.

2. Service Description

Scolo AI is a simple tool that helps Nigerian businesses check if a customer has a history of paying back before they sell on credit. Our Service works through WhatsApp — businesses can request a search on a customer, and we review bank transaction history to generate a trust score and recommendation.

Scolo AI is not a credit bureau, financial institution, or lender. We provide recommendations only — they are not financial advice. All decisions about extending credit are made at your own discretion and risk.

3. Eligibility

To use Scolo AI, you must:

  • Be at least 18 years of age.
  • Be a resident of Nigeria or operate a business registered in Nigeria.
  • Have a valid WhatsApp account and phone number.
  • Provide accurate and complete information during registration.

4. User Responsibilities

When using Scolo AI, you agree to:

  • Provide accurate, current, and complete information about yourself and your business.
  • Obtain consent from any individual before requesting a search on them.
  • Use search results only for legitimate business purposes and in compliance with applicable laws.
  • Keep your account credentials and access secure.
  • Not use the Service for any unlawful, fraudulent, or harmful purpose.
  • Not attempt to reverse-engineer, interfere with, or disrupt the Service.

5. How Our Recommendations Work

When you run a search, our system uses AI to review available bank transaction data and gives you a recommendation (GO, CAUTION, or NO) along with a confidence score. Think of it as an extra data point to help you decide — not a guarantee of what will happen.

You know your customers and your business better than any algorithm. Our recommendations are based on the transaction history available at the time of the search, and that picture may be incomplete. A customer’s past behaviour is not a guarantee of future behaviour.

The decision to extend credit is always yours. Scolo AI gives you useful information to help you make that decision, but you are fully responsible for the outcome. We strongly recommend using our recommendations alongside your own experience and judgement.

6. Consent and Bank Account Linking

When a customer links their bank account through Scolo AI, they provide explicit consent for us to access their transaction history for the purpose of generating a trust score. This consent can be withdrawn at any time by contacting us. Businesses requesting searches must ensure the customer has been informed and has provided consent.

7. Fees and Payments

Scolo AI may charge fees for certain features or searches. Any applicable fees will be clearly communicated before you incur them. We reserve the right to change our pricing with reasonable notice.

8. Limitation of Liability

Scolo AI is an informational tool. We help you make better decisions, but we do not make decisions for you. Because the choice to sell on credit is ultimately yours, Scolo AI is not responsible for losses that arise from those decisions.

Specifically, to the maximum extent permitted by Nigerian law, Scolo AI and its team shall not be liable for:

  • Money lost because a customer did not pay, regardless of the recommendation we provided.
  • Incomplete or outdated transaction data that affected a trust score.
  • Business opportunities missed because of a CAUTION or NO recommendation.
  • Service interruptions, downtime, or data loss.
  • Unauthorised access to your account due to your failure to keep it secure.

9. Intellectual Property

All content, trademarks, and technology associated with Scolo AI are owned by us or our licensors. You may not copy, modify, distribute, or create derivative works from any part of our Service without our prior written consent.

10. Termination

We may suspend or terminate your access to Scolo AI at any time, with or without cause, including for violation of these Terms. You may also stop using the Service at any time. Upon termination, your right to use the Service ceases immediately, though data retention provisions in our Privacy Policy continue to apply.

11. Service Modifications

We reserve the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue any part of the Service at any time without prior notice. We are not liable for any modification, suspension, or discontinuation of the Service.

12. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes via WhatsApp or through our Service. Continued use of Scolo AI after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.

13. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. Any disputes arising from these Terms or your use of Scolo AI shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Nigeria.
